Overview

The Grooming Boutique is a premium home-based dog grooming studio in Morganstown, Cardiff — one dog at a time, no cages, no rushing. In 2026 Studio 72 rebuilt it as our flagship: a cinematic scroll-film website where the visitor scrubs a 25-second transformation film — a scruffy cockapoo arriving, bathed, dried, hand-finished and revealed — frame by frame with their fingertip, before a 12-section page carries them to a booking.

The Challenge

Award-style cinematic sites and technically sound sites are usually opposites. The sites that win design awards routinely ship broken forms, no security headers, tens of megabytes of media and zero reduced-motion support. The sites that pass audits usually look like templates.

The Grooming Boutique needed both at once: brand cinema that makes a one-woman studio feel like a luxury house, and the hard fundamentals — speed on a phone, accessibility, local SEO continuity for pages that already ranked — that actually book grooms.

One rule was binding throughout: the film is brand cinema, but the proof section may only ever show real dogs, real photos and real reviews. Every photograph was provenance-checked before it shipped.

The Solution

The centrepiece is a scroll-driven film engine: 200 pre-rendered frames on desktop, a 100-frame set for mobile that weighs just 3.7MB, painted to a canvas as you scroll. A chapter rail lets visitors jump straight to any beat of the film — Arrival to Reveal — and a second scrubbed scene walks the four-step grooming process further down the page.

Underneath the cinema sits the conversion spine: services with live guide pricing, a groom configurator, real client photography, Google reviews, and booking wired straight into Bookd. The blog and its local-SEO rankings carried over with every URL preserved.

The fundamentals were gated, not hoped for: an A+ grade on securityheaders.com with a strict Content-Security-Policy, self-hosted fonts, 100/100 Lighthouse SEO and accessibility with performance in the mid-90s on mobile, and full reduced-motion support — visitors who prefer less motion get a still, complete page.

The new site finally feels like us. It looks professional, it is easier for clients to use, and it actually reflects the quality of the grooming experience we offer.
