Bookd — SaaS Booking Platform
Overview
Bookd was built to solve a messy, expensive problem for UK dog groomers: too many were still running bookings through WhatsApp, phone calls, DMs and paper diaries. That created delays, missed messages, no-shows and a poor experience for both the business and the customer. Studio 72 took that real-world problem and turned it into a production SaaS platform designed specifically for service businesses, starting with dog groomers.
The Challenge
The challenge was not just building "booking software". It was building a system that matched how independent groomers actually work.
Most dog groomers are not sitting at a desk all day. They are hands-on, moving between dogs, cleaning, managing clients and trying to keep the diary full. Admin gets pushed into evenings and weekends. New enquiries come through multiple channels. Existing bookings are hard to track. No-shows hit revenue directly.
Most generic tools either cost too much, feel too bloated, or do not fit the workflow. The goal was to create a platform that reduced admin, made online booking easier and gave groomers a proper back office without adding more complexity.
The Solution
Studio 72 designed and built Bookd as a complete SaaS platform with online booking, automated reminders, payment handling and client management.
The product includes customer-facing booking flows, appointment approval and management, automated SMS and email reminders, client and pet records, Stripe payment processing, and operational workflows built around real grooming use cases.
The emphasis was on practical function over hype. The platform had to feel fast, simple and usable for small business owners who do not want to wrestle with software. Built solo in eight weeks with 802 automated tests passing at launch.
